TEHRAN (IQNA) – Arabic is among the sacred languages of the world, the former Mufti of Egypt said.

Quran

Speaking at a televised program, Ali Gomaa said there are certain languages that can be considered sacred, El-Balad News reported.

He said it does not mean that they are intrinsically holy but that divine books have been revealed in those languages.

Arabic, in which the Holy Quran has been revealed, is one of them, Gomaa added.

He said God, with his limitless knowledge and Hikma (wisdom) has chosen Arabic as the language of the Quran because it is a rich language with certain features.

It is a language that can convey the depth of meanings to human beings for them to deduce Fiqhi (jurisprudential) rules until the Day of Judgment, the former Mufti stated.

He also said that many languages in the world are disappearing every year but Arabic will remain and be preserved in the Holy Quran and Hadiths.
